SMISD Distance Learning Center
The SMISD Distance Learning Learning Center is here to assist, guide, and provide the Santa Maria Community with resources, and answers to their questions. Santa Maria ISD is working with Texas Education Agency (TEA) to provide internet access to every student who does not have internet access at home. Additionally, we are using our resources to provide a technology device for every student who needs one. Our goal is for every student to participate in synchronous (live) instruction if they choose remote learning. Following the instructions and guidelines from TEA and the Health Department, the safety of our students and staff is our top priority. We have provided training and will continue to train our teachers and staff on how to use technology and its resources to enhance remote learning for our students. These are difficult times for everyone, but by working together we will meet the challenges. The community's support and patience is greatly appreciated.

District Operations Guide In Response to COVID-19 2020-2021
INTRODUCTION and DISTRICT PRIORITIES
Santa Maria ISD looks forward to welcoming students back to school on September 7, 2020. Despite the challenges of COVID-19, we will continue to provide the excellent educational opportunities our community has come to expect from SMISD, which will include both face-to-face and remote learning environments. As the public health crisis continues, district administrators have been planning for the opening of 2020-2021 school year with a focus on the health, safety and well-being of our staff, students and community.
Our plan follows recommendations for school opening and operations provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Texas Education Agency (TEA) and state and local health officials.
The situation with COVID-19 is continuously changing and our plans will remain flexible to accommodate potential changes. The SMISD website and social media pages will provide you with the most up-to-date information. To read the full document click below.
